Listen before processing
Play a quiet section and a spoken section. Identify whether the problem continues under the voice or mainly appears in the gaps. Keep an original copy for a fair comparison.
Choose a focused repair
- For speech with background noise, try Effects → Noise Reduction (Voice) and compare intelligibility before and after.
- For steady electrical hum, use the De-hum tool in Process.
- For low noise in pauses, try the noise gate and check that it does not cut off soft syllables.
Stop before the voice sounds damaged
Heavy processing can make speech watery, thin or uneven. A little remaining room sound may be less distracting than an unnatural voice. Undo a change that reduces clarity.
Export and listen outside the editor
Play the finished file at an ordinary listening level. Check quiet words and the gaps between phrases, not only the loudest section.
