Check the original channels
Listen for material that exists mainly on one side. A lopsided recording, a wide music bed and a dual-channel interview may need different treatment.
Adjust the width
- Select the audio you want to process.
- Open Process → Stereo Width and make a small adjustment.
- Play the complete passage on headphones, then check it on speakers if available.
- Compare with the original before applying another change.
A wider mix can lose its center
Increasing width can make some material less solid when the channels are combined. Check mono compatibility when the audio may be played on a single speaker.
Separate sources need separate decisions
Balance a voice and background music before trying to widen the result. The Multitrack Mixer can help organize multiple sources; width alone cannot fix a vocal buried by a loud music track.
