How to Prepare and Edit Text-to-Speech Audio

MP3 Editor for Free edits recorded audio; it does not generate speech from text. Create the voice in a text-to-speech tool, then use the editor to improve timing and prepare a listening copy.

Download Free Software

Download the editor to prepare and finish audio. The dedicated effect or speech generator discussed here is not included.

Prepare the words before generating audio

Use short sentences, spell out unusual abbreviations and divide long material into sections. Listen for names and numbers that need a different pronunciation.

Generate, then edit

  1. Create narration in a text-to-speech service or application that supports your chosen voice and language. Check its usage terms.
  2. Save the resulting audio and open it in MP3 Editor for Free.
  3. Trim unwanted pauses, insert breathing room between sections and balance the level.
  4. Export a separate MP3 for listening or keep WAV for further editing.

Current app capability

MP3 Editor for Free edits and records audio. It does not include a text-to-speech generator. A ready-made voice file can be edited like another audio recording.

Keep the pacing human

A short pause before a new topic often helps more than speeding up every sentence. Listen to the entire piece at its intended playback volume.
