Normalize the intended range
- Open the audio and select the full clip when you want one consistent gain adjustment.
- Choose Effects → Normalize and set a target with room below the maximum level.
- Apply the change and inspect the loudest passages. Play the result before exporting.
Understand what stays the same
Normalization does not even out every word or remove background noise. If one loud hit limits the rest of a recording, a compressor or a manual level adjustment may be more appropriate.
Peak level is not perceived loudness
Two clips with the same highest peak can still sound different in volume. Compare them by listening; use the app’s loudness tools when a delivery workflow calls for a loudness measurement.
Keep an editable master
Save a WAV master if more processing is planned. Export an MP3 listening copy after the edits are complete.
