What the controls do
A flanger mixes the source with a very short, changing delayed copy. A dedicated flanger usually provides rate, depth, feedback and a wet/dry balance. Rate controls motion, while depth changes the delay variation. Feedback increases the strength of the resonant sweep.
Prepare an effect-ready clip
- Trim the source and remove distracting sounds at the edges.
- Export a WAV copy for a processor that includes a dedicated flanger.
- Apply a subtle effect there, then reopen the result in MP3 Editor for Free to check timing, fades and the final export.
Current app capability
This release includes a Delay effect but no dedicated flanger. A fixed delay can create repeats or change the apparent thickness of a sound; it does not provide the moving delay modulation of a flanger.
Use a sweep where it earns its place
Try a short transition or sustained musical sound first. Strong modulation across a whole spoken recording can make the words harder to follow.
