Try the current speed tools
- Select the passage you want to change.
- Open the speed controls in Effects: Speed Up / Slow Down (pitch) or Speed / Playback Rate.
- Preview the result and compare the voice or instrument with the original.
- Apply the change, then check both the duration and the sound before exporting.
Listen for more than a faster tempo
A rate change can also move musical notes and alter a speaker’s voice. If matching a video or another track, check the endpoint as well as the beginning.
Keep changes modest at first
Large changes can exaggerate processing artifacts or make speech difficult to understand. Compare a complete phrase so you can hear how the rhythm and transients behave.
For a shorter clip, editing may be better
If you only need a recording to fit a time slot, remove unused sections before changing its speed. This can keep the performance closer to the original.
