Save a home DVD recording as an MP4

Convert the title, not a random VOB fragment

DVD recordings may span several VOB files. Importing the complete DVD structure helps keep the selected title in order. If you copied a disc to your computer, leave its folder structure intact.

Create the MP4

1. Open Movie DVD Convert and click Import DVD. Select the disc directory or folder containing the readable DVD structure.
2. In Disc titles, compare the title durations and select the recording you want. Add it to the conversion queue.
3. Choose MP4 as the output format. The standard MP4 preset uses H.264 video; check that an audio track is selected as well.
4. Keep the source dimensions unless you have a reason to resize. If you need only a short scene, use Edit and Trim before exporting.
5. Click Save to to choose the destination, then Convert. Play the MP4 and check the start, a middle section and the ending.

If the result looks stretched or combed

Check the picture's proportions before forcing a new width and height. For footage with visible horizontal combing during motion, try the Deinterlace / decomb option in the editor's Effects controls and compare a short output sample. Increasing the resolution cannot recreate detail absent from the DVD. Copy-protected DVDs and direct ISO input are outside this workflow.
