Video Format Conversion Guide

Give a folder of mixed videos one useful output format

Clips from different cameras and phones often arrive in different formats. Put them in one queue, choose the destination format and let OneClick Video Switch process the selected files.

Decide where the videos will be used

Choose a format your target player or editing application accepts. MP4 is a practical starting point for many everyday uses; MKV may suit a different playback workflow. File extensions alone do not determine quality, which also depends on the codecs and encoding settings.

Prepare and run the queue

  1. Add the videos you want to convert. Review the filenames and durations so unrelated files do not enter the batch.
  2. Select an output format in the lower format panel. Check the output shown on each row, especially if a file has its own settings.
  3. Open Edit for any clip that needs trimming, cropping or rotation. Save those edits and return to the queue.
  4. Use the checkboxes to include the files you need. Keep Merge files off to receive a separate result for each input.
  5. Choose the destination and click Convert. Review each result; use the file's log if a particular conversion fails.

Test a representative clip before a large batch

Try a short video with motion and sound before applying tighter size settings to many recordings. Check that faces, text and movement remain clear enough for your purpose. Leave the source files available until the converted copies have been checked.
