Choose the moment before choosing the format
Start with an audio file you can open locally. Listen for a recognizable phrase with a clear beginning; a long quiet introduction makes a poor ringtone. Keep the original file so you can try a different section later.
Cut and export your M4R file
- Click Add Audio in EarCatch Ringtone Express and select your song or recording.
- Click Edit beside the file, then open Trim. Set the start and end of the section you want to keep, using the time fields or timeline handles.
- For a softer entrance or ending, open Adjustments and set short Fade in and Fade out durations. Listen again, then click Save and Close.
- Choose Ringtone for iPhone in the output presets. Check that the queued output uses the .m4r extension.
- Choose a destination with Save to, then click Convert. Play the resulting file and check its beginning, ending and duration.
The file is ready; setting it on the phone is separate
EarCatch creates the ringtone file. Transfer it with a method supported by your iPhone and select it on the phone afterward. The application does not automatically install the ringtone on your device. If your transfer method rejects the duration, return to Trim and export a shorter clip.
