Match the blank disc to the writer
Your optical drive must support writing the type of media you insert. A DVD holds more than a CD, but a CD-only writer cannot burn it. Check the total size before starting and keep another copy of important files.
Prepare the data disc
- Open Data Disc Wizard and choose Build & Burn to Disc.
- Use Add Files and Add Folder to collect the contents. Review the list and remove anything that should not be included.
- Choose the disc type and check the Total Size / Capacity display. Set a short volume label to identify the disc later.
- Select the target drive and an appropriate write speed. Enable Verify after burn when you want the application to check the written result.
- Continue to the summary, review the files and destination, then click Start. After completion, reopen the disc and check several files.
Save an image when the writer is not connected
Choose Build Data Image to prepare a disc image without writing physical media. When a suitable writer is available, Burn Existing Image can write that image to disc. A data disc containing music files is still a data disc; use Create Audio CD for a conventional CD player's track format.
